Our Covid-19 Measures

The measures have been created to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus (Covid-19) and protect the health and safety of our workers and customers.

As per government information and resources, cleaning, fortunately, helps minimise the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). Cleaning an area with normal household disinfectant after someone with suspected coronavirus (COVID-19) has left will reduce the risk of passing the infection on to other people. Cleaners, caretakers and concierges play an important role in keeping people in their buildings protected, and are on the frontline in the battle against coronavirus (COVID-19) to keep staff, customers, and particularly the most vulnerable safe.

Therefore, Mac Cleaning Services is determined to continue and maintain its services where appropriate and safe in the interest of its employees and customers.

*Please note these are general protective policies and that we are happy to take more specific measures upon further request.

A risk assessment will be made prior to the clean to ensure the appropriate and proportionate steps are taken.

Following recent developments and advice procured from the government Public Health England and the NHS, we have decided to advance the current measures:

  • We strictly advise customers to ensure that properties are empty before the commencement of each clean.

  • Our operatives will no longer generally work in groups and will instead work individually to clean each property (depending on its size).

  • Aprons and gloves are now compulsory for our staff. Masks will also be used, as and when they are essential.

  • PPE is our utmost priority for our essential workers. Therefore, we now have an extra supply of PPE on-site and more on-demand.

  • We have introduced a fixed-pairing system where the same individuals are allocated to a household and the work is repetitive in nature.

  • Operatives will use back-to-back or side-to-side working (rather than face-to-face) whenever possible.

  • Maintaining good ventilation is a priority, for example, keeping windows open to reduce the risk of transmission.

Measures we are taking to Reduce Risk of Exposure:

  • All domestic cleaning will now continue.

  • All cleaning staff will now be provided with (PPE) disposable protective wear that includes, masks, aprons, and gloves.

  • If a risk assessment of the setting indicates that a higher level of the virus may be present (for example, where unwell individuals have slept such as a hotel room or boarding school dormitory) or there is visible contamination with body fluids, then the need for additional PPE to protect the cleaner’s eyes, mouth and nose will be provided.

  • Special attention will be paid to "high touched" areas such as; door and cupboard handles, light switches, TV remotes, tables, countertops to help reduce risk.

  • Specific detergent disinfectant solution advice provided by the government will be followed that are effective against viruses.

  • Any cloths and mop heads used will be disposed of and should be put into waste bags.

  • Reusable equipment (e.g. cleaning cloths and mop covers) will be washed at a high temperature (60°C or above) after every use.

Higher Risk Properties & Employee Safety:

  • Some properties that contain a higher risk of infection may be asked to keep closed off and secure for 72 hours if possible.

  • After this time the amount of virus contamination will have decreased substantially and can be cleaned as normal with usual products.

  • All employees have been briefed to know how to spot symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) and are clear on any relevant processes, for example, sickness reporting and sick pay, and procedures in case someone in the workplace is potentially infected and needs to take the appropriate action.

  • We request that all properties to be cleaned remain empty to reduce the risk of contact contamination and ensure social distancing rules are complied with.

  • Windows will be opened where possible for ventilation.

  • All members of staff are provided with hand sanitiser and tissues and are encouraged to use them.

  • All employees have access to places where they can wash their hands for 20 seconds with soap and water and we encourage everyone to do so regularly.

  • Any employees who fall within the vulnerable group are strongly advised to follow the government's social distancing policy (2-metre distance or 1-metre with risk mitigation).
